Weatherability analysis of phenolic exterior wall insulation materials

Thermal insulation materials and products are an important factor affecting building energy efficiency. The development and application of building insulation materials have received increasing attention from all over the world. After the 1970s, foreign countries generally paid attention to the production of insulation materials and their application in construction, and strived to reduce energy consumption by a large amount, thereby reducing environmental pollution and greenhouse effect. The foreign thermal insulation material industry has a long history, and the building insulation energy-saving materials account for the vast majority, and new insulation materials are constantly emerging. Some have good insulation effect, some are easy to use, and some have strong weather resistance. The outstanding performances include phenolic foam insulation board, centrifugal glass wool, rock wool board, polyurethane direct buried insulation pipe, steel sleeve steel direct buried insulation pipe and so on.

Weatherability expresses the ability of the wall insulation system to adapt to external climate changes. In areas with hot summers, hot and humid winters, small temperature differences during the seasons, and large temperature differences in all seasons, the weather resistance of insulation materials directly affects the service life of the system. In order to regulate product access to the market, the state designated "polystyrene insulation mortar system" and "polystyrene insulation board thin plastering system" have a mandatory clause - weather resistance test.

The water absorption of phenolic foam particles is very large compared with phenolic and rock wool, and the highest water absorption rate is 10%, but it is not exposed to the air, and the outer coating or tile is waterproof, so there is no problem in weather resistance. Among the three materials, the water absorption rate of phenolic polystyrene insulation board is 4% higher than that of rock wool extruded insulation board, and other factors, its weather resistance is the second.

First look at the surface layer of phenolic foam particles, the coating industry is good, the tiles are good, all are wet construction. During the construction, the water part is absorbed by the phenolic foam particle insulation layer, and then gradually volatilized, and the remaining water inside is 4% to 5%, but dispersed. Usually, it is in the water-bearing operation like ordinary concrete, and the performance is stable after a certain value. This insulation value should be used with sufficient coefficient.

The phenolic water has strong water absorption, and the water is softened after the water absorption, the thermal insulation performance is lowered, and the strength is seriously damaged. If there is local leakage, local damage will occur. Therefore, the weather resistance of polyphenylene granules is in the mid-range and is not affected by the climate. If the insulation performance is reduced, a limit loss of 30% is also possible. Phenolic has a certain water absorption rate, which is obviously affected by the weather, and the thermal insulation performance often decreases slightly. Rock wool has strong weather resistance, but it does not rule out the accidental probability of arching due to condensation on the wall. Once it occurs, the consequences are very serious.
